Ex-army chief reveals what’ll happen to Nigeria if Peter Obi doesn’t win presidential election

A retired army chief, Col. Chinyere Obi, has described the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, as the best alternative for a better Nigeria.

The Ex-Army chief insisted that Nigeria will suffer setback if the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, or that of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, become Nigeria’s president.

Speaking to newsmen in Owerri, yesterday, Col. Obi was quoted by the GuardianNig as saying: “Nigerians should think and vote wisely. We should know that who we elect as president would determine if we want to move forward or backward as a nation. For me, I am not just thinking about Obi, Tinubu or Atiku, but the general well being of Nigeria and Nigerians.

“At 74 years of age, I can tell, among the presidential candidates, who has best leadership ideas and vision for Nigeria. And I want to tell Nigerians that Peter Obi is the right candidate, who is capable of delivering on our collective expectations.

“Let me also warn that if we vote either Atiku or Tinubu, Nigeria will be doomed. We are going back to Egypt. We are not only going to suffer and die, but we are also going to fail our children and generations yet unborn.”

Why Peter Obi Is Best Candidate For Nigeria – Ortom

Prior to the ex-army chief’s remarks, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State had also described Peter Obi as the best candidate for Nigeria.

Ortom made this assertion when Obi paid him a visit in Makurdi, the Benue state capital after visiting flood victims in the state, in November last year.

He said, “If Nigeria needs to make a choice, you are one of the finest candidates that we have in this country. In terms of education, in terms of character, in terms of performance, in terms of reaching out, in terms of being a pan-Nigerian, in terms of industrialisation, passion to ensure that our country is liberated from where we are; out of insecurity to security, and out of economic woes to economic vibrancy and out of lack to adequate social life, you have the capacity to make things work.”

Ortom said party or ethnicity should not be considerations in the February presidential election, but the capacity of a candidate to deliver Nigeria from “the mess.”

He further stated, “And Peter Obi from your antecedents, you have the capacity. If I were God, I would have said everything but I am not God.”

Ortom said noboby of structure can stop whoever God decides to be Nigeria’s next President.

“If I were not in PDP, Peter Obi would have been my candidate but I am in PDP, that is my handicap but my prayers are with you.”

Peter Obi Remains The Ideal President For Nigeria – Emejuru

Mr Chris Emejuru, a United States of America (USA) based politician, had shared the views of Ortom among others wo believe Mr Obi is the best presidentiàl candidate for Nigeria.

Speaking to reporters last year via zoom from his base in the USA, Emejuru who is the Managing Partner for America at Lowase Management Consulting cited youthfulness and energy as some of the edge Obi has over his key rivals.

“My ideal candidate is someone who is ethical, someone who has common sense, and someone who truly, genuinely cares about the masses. A candidate who doesn’t judge based on what part of the country you are from and whose interest is to unite and not divide.

“Someone who wants to bring an end to police brutality, an end to bad governance, and an end to poverty. I believe the candidate who, although not perfect, comes close to these ideals is Peter Obi.

“Age of a Presidential Candidate does not matter as much as how competent you are. You can look at Nelson Mandela for example. However, in Nigeria, the youth have been neglected for so long, especially in politics.

”So, to have a young president who brings energy, compassion, intellect and other leadership qualities is a welcome development.”

Expressing disappointment with the performance of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, he said it behoves the electorates not to be swayed by primordial sentiments to vote for the presidential candidate of their choice.

He added: “My advice for Nigerians as the political campaign commences is to remember your choice. Remember who it is that has your interest at heart. Someone who has character.

“Someone who cares about creating a better life for you and your family. Someone who cares about every Nigerian citizen and wants to create more jobs and tackle insecurity..

“Don’t be swayed by political jingles and adverts. Vote your conscious. This is your future. This is your life. Make the right decision.”
