Comrade Francis Obule, the Delta State Coordinator of PDP Mobilizers, on Saturday, in Warri Delta State, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to sack Senator Godswill Akpabio, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, who is currently facing allegations of corruption hinging on financial rascality in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Comrade Obule, who expressed anger over the untoward behaviour of Akpabio said: “It is indeed unfortunate that Akpabio and his co Interim Management Committee (IMC) could be so brutal against the collective interest of the Niger Delta by plundering the NDDC in six months despite the fact that he is from the Niger Delta.
Comrade Obule, who emphasised the need for Akpabio to face the music to serve as a warning to others remarked: “Only proper and transparent punishment given to Akpabio by President Buhari can save his name. So far, events have shown that most of Mr President followers are the worse crop of politicians Nigeria has ever produced.”

According to Obule, it would an unwise decision for President Buhari to keep the likes of Akpabio who has made the NDDC a hot cauldron out of circulation for some time for national peace and stability.
Speaking further, he stated: “Imagine a man hired with taxpayers’ money to drive the development process of the Niger Delta, turning the NDDC, a very strategic interventionist Agency for that matter, into his personal estate.”

Obule pointed out that leaving Akpabio in office a day longer is a policy somersault which is already a blight to the Buhari administration that is lacking the will power to deal with issues that will put the economy on the path of accelerated development.
He contended that the way and manner Buhari will handle Akpabio will go a long way in determining the totality of his concern to fight corruption.
He reminded Buhari to understand and realise that he is running out of time even as both the economic and political turfs of the country are getting messier in a government that promises to champion anti-corruption crusade in Africa.
