Herdsmen paraded by Police for Kidnap of Catholic Priest, PDP Woman Leader in Enugu

The Enugu State Police Command, On Monday paraded herdsmen who were involved in several kidnap and robbery cases in the State

The Suspects, Adamu Muhammed ,25, from Taraba State, Musa Ibrahim, 28, from Katsina State and Dauda Alhaji, 31, from Nassarawa State were said to be involved in the kidnapping of Rev. Father Cyprian Ugwuanyi, Parish Priest of St Paul’s Catholic Church in Ogbosu Umulokpa in Uzo-Uwani Local Government area and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Women Leader in Igbo-Etiti Local Government area of the State

However, the herders, confessed and told the journalist that they left cattle rearing business to join a kidnapping gang as they are in urgent need of quick money


Similarly, the Commissioner Of Police, Ahmed Abdulrahman, who paraded the herders said the height of operations conducted led to the arrest of the suspects with the collaboration of sister agencies, adding that it took the efforts of anti-kidnapping unit, CP Monitoring Unit and Special Anti-Robbery Squad who worked closely to arrests the syndicates in their hideouts in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State

Abdulrahman also noted that, the suspects kidnapped the PDP woman leader alongside her son and driver on Dec 21, 2019 at about 7:30pm, Mr Ejike Ugwuanyi on Jan 14, 2020 at about 9:30pm at Obollo Afor as well as Rev. Fr Cyprian Ugwuanyi of St Paul’s Catholic Church on Jan 10, adding that One Ak47 rifle with 11 rounds ammunition and three locally made guns with 18 live cartridges were recovered from the suspected herders

The CP, However, thanked both the Inspector General Of Police, Mr Adamu Muhammed and the Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for their material support and directives towards ensuring the safety of citizens in the state
