Islamic cleric arraigned for tricking ‘Spiritual Son’ into parting with N4m

Those who are considered as men of God and who have trust reposed in them by the adherents of the two main religions have had more people falling prey as victims cognizant that they are regarded as representatives of God on earth and the unsuspecting members of the public people will naturally rely on them as vehicles for solutions to personal challenges.

Team@orientmags.com gathered that an Islamic cleric, Kabiru Adebayo, has been arraigned for allegedly defrauding his ‘spiritual son’ , Oluwadamilola Oyesomi of over four million naira.

He appeared before Magistrate Olufunke Sule-Amzat of the Lagos state Magistrates’ Court, Ikeja on Thursday.

Kabiru reportedly collected the money from Oyesomi about two years ago on the pretext of performing certain sacrifices for him.

He however converted it to his personal use and took to his heels when he learned that security agents were on his trail.

Kabiru was arraigned on two counts of fraud and stealing. He however made a not guilty plea.

The police prosecutor, Ben Emuerhi told the court that the defendant committed the offences in connivance with others still at large in December 2018 at Pen-Cinema , Agege area of Lagos.

The offences according to Emuerhi contravened sections 280 (1) (a) (b) and 314 (2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Magistrate Sule-Amzat later set bail for the defendant at five hundred thousand naira with two sureties in like sum.

She also adjourned the case to February 24, 2020, for mention
