The founder of Austin Epadi-Igbuku Lights on Foundation, Dr. Austin Igbuku, donated sport material to some community in Isoko South Local Government Area.
Dr. Igbuku made the donation Friday December 6, during the 10th Annual Speech and prize giving day of Austin Epadi-Igbuku Lights on Foundation which took place in Aviara Secondary School in Isoko South.
He stated that this year, “we are focusing more on sport but not forgetting the academic aspect of it”.
He urged teachers to be a true mentors to their students and also urge everyone present to read because the values that comes from reading is incompatible.
The founder of Austin Epadi-Igbuku Lights foundation went on to say that, he initiated this programme in other to promote education because education is light and life, while stressing that, “there is no alternative to hard work, no short cut to learn”, adding that in order to succeed, “you must differentiate yourself from the crowd at all time.”
Dr. Igbuku donated 22 football boots, 18 Jesse and many others equipment used in playing football game.
He stated that: “This programme offers four years scholarship to every student that finished from Aviara Secondary Commercial School and gain admission, while noting that the twenty-two players that partake in the football exercise will be giving the sum of 40,000 naira.
The AG. Director, Post Primary Education Board, PPEB, Oleh Zonal Office, Mr. Osokpor E. Eric, commend Dr. Austin Igbuku for helping in bringing education back on it’s feet, while stressing that, “this programme is not setting a pace for the Isoko nation alone but for Delta and Nigeria at large”.
Mr. Osokpor went further to say that: “This is not the era to buy card or house for people but to invest more in education, because by doing that, you are saving lives.”
He also enjoined the notable people of Isoko to join hands together in order to move the programme forward. Noting that “there are many area that needs to be touched in Aviara.”
The Principal of Aviara Secondary Commercial School, Mr. Edheka A. I, thanked Dr. Igbuku for impacting positively to the people of Isoko since he initiated this programme.
Mr. Edheka stated some of the projects being carried out by him as: provision of library, provision of books for the students, sinking of boreholes and provision of water in the staff quarters, provision of desks, tables and chairs for students and teachers, sinking of borehole, building of modern toilets for staff and students, provision of sets of musical instruments for the school and presented numerous awards to teachers and students.
Mr. Edheka pray God to continue to lift Dr. Austin Igbuku and his family, while calling on ‘good spirited individuals’ to come to help with provision of standard science laboratories, provision of solar energy and computers.
The second Guest Speaker, the Principal ICE Oleh, Mrs. Odeimo C.I Onojegbe, advised the students to always ready their books and take it as their companion because without education and hardwork, you cannot succeed.
Mrs. Onojegbe enjoined the teachers and parents to always “encourage them because character must be tiled to education adding that without character you education has failed.”
She also advised the students to get a role model and if they take their study serious then God will guide them and they will make it in life.
